Creaholic's role was to work closely with Haag-Streit's technical team in order to develop and design a new device that incorporated a variety of new and existing components. The primary focus for the design was to develop a product that accommodated three different user groups. For the patient it had to appear non-intimidating, for the operator it had to be easy to use and for the technician it had to allow easy access. Therefore, with these three groups in mind, the design team worked in close collaboration with the technical development team to achieve the most optimal and accessible configuration of the components. The design also had to take into account a universal and modular base unit, which the client used for most of their diagnostic devices. So in order to create homogeneity the forms and radii of the housing had to be sympathetic to those of the base unit. Another significant criterion for the design was that it had to be viable for low production numbers. The decice went on to win a red dot design award in 2009. |
